Antique French painted Trumeau mirror, which originated as a center pillar covered with a mirror supporting a large doorway. By the 1800’s in France, the Trumeau mirrors became an over-mantle decoration above a fireplace. Our antique French trumeau seems to be at least 150-years old and probably older. The paint is in layers and you can clearly see all the old cracking below the surface. The actual mirror itself has incredible patina and one of the best pieces of old mirror we’ve seen in a long time.
