18th Century Country French Buffet is a classic design that has remained popular for centuries! Using dense, old-growth quarter-sawn oak, the artisans who created it utilized time-honored techniques handed down from generation to generation, including dovetailing and pegged mortise & tenon joinery. The solid plank top features mitered corners which eliminates sharp points in the room, with the cornerposts themselves following the same miter down to the massive multi-tiered base and feet below. Fine bordering softens the architecture for a pleasing visual effect, especially when combined with the recessed framed side panels. The front is defined by the three drawers on top outlined in a fancy scrolled bordering, offsetting the boldly molded undulating apron below. In between, two large cabinet doors continue the bold molding effect, depicting a facing arch theme and flanking the center panel with its arched design. Doors are hung with exterior-mounted brass barrel hinges allowing them to open about 180 degrees, with brass key guards as visual accents complementing the brass knobs with fleur-de-lys guards on the drawer above.
