An 18th century country French armoire, or vitrine, from Alsace made of solid oak with inlaid mahogany and cherry Marquetry details. Original iron hardware with long decorative escutcheons on the doors, wide drawers pulls and large heavy hinges. Lock is in working condition with one key. The large paneled doors have old glass panes and provide for an excellent display of pottery and collectables. Interior has two adjustable shelves, the top shelf has a latch to hold the door and the lower shelf is new. Two dovetailed drawers provide ample storage. Expert craftsmanship using pegged and mortise and Tenon construction. This armoire was made to be fully dismantled, as was common for ease in moving and installing in the home. Waxed patina. A good quality, sturdy case piece with normal restoration on the feet.
