19th century County French walnut buffet with black marble top was meticulously crafted completely by hand during the mid-1700s by obviously talented ebenistes from select indigenous French walnut. This extraordinary example of rural artisanry features hand-carved magnificence from the recessed drawer facades to the mirror-image scrolled, raised & recessed door panels. The scrolled apron and legs finish the base, and the original steel hinges, ferrures and lock combine with the choice 5-centimeter thick double beveled black marble top for a truly unforgettable visual presence! Discovered outside the environs of Lyon, such pieces are truly rare finds. Note the hand-hewn planks in the back, and the pegged mortise & tenon joinery throughout the design, all performed by hand, by skilled craftsmen.
