It appears to be a leg or support for a larger structure.
The leg has a hoofed foot that supports a lion’s head and square platform above. The leg is reminiscent of legs on Roman braziers.
Very finely modeled with a verdigre patina and secured on a wooden plinth.
From the private collection of Lawrence Majewski, who was a former conservator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Simply a wonderful piece for the wunderkammer or curio cabinet!
