Contemporary Chinese Turquoise Glazed Foo Dog Figurines – Set of 4

These are two pair of turquoise Foo Dog statues. They are in a beautifully glazed ceramic with intricate designs around the base. The male, on the right, holds the sphere, which represents the earth; the female, on the left, holds the cub. Each set of foo dogs are symbolic, protective statues, and they are designed in pairs — one is female, the other is male. The female represents yin, and symbolically protects the people dwelling inside the home, while the male statue, representing yang, protects the structure itself. The taller pair is approximately 4″w, 2.5″d, 10.5″ high and the larger pair is: 4″w, 3″d, 13″high.
