Dutch Modernist design armchair designed by Wim Rietveld and produced by Gispen. This armchair has a frame of black painted steel. The back and seat are both made of painted sheet steel and covered with green leather with a beautiful patina. The chair has two armrests made of bakelite. The back of the back is uncoated so you can see the steel. Armchair no. 415, and later called model 1401 belonged to a series of “furniture for the simple interior,” introduced in the mid-1950s. The armchair was first shown at the 10th Milan Triennial (1954), where it was awarded a gold medal. The dimensions are: 63 cm long x 60 c wide x 70 cm high with a seat height of 38 cm.
