A large and intricately made Greek style mosaic wall art panel inspired by “The Stag Hunt”, a 4th century mosaic found in Pella, Greece, and signed by ancient Greek artist, Gnosis.
Small tessera mosaic tiles are used to depict two hunters in incredible detail, with two dogs and a stag to the centre and guilloche pattern to the border, mounted in a streamline steel frame. The figure on the left is thought to be Alexander the Great, King of the ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon at the time the original by Gnosis was made. The other is considered to be Hephaistos, Greek God of fire, metalworking and artisans, wielding a double-headed axe.
Measuring 181 x 163 cm, this large Greek mosaic wall art is an outstanding feature piece for an interior wall, particularly those inspired by Greek or Italian influences.
