Vintage Design
The vintage oak bookcase by Hans Wegner from the 1950s was manufactured by RY Mobler, which is validated by the retained imprint of the original label. Even though Hans Wegner is mostly known for chairs, his background as a cabinet maker reveals his knowledge of how to make ergonomic, high-quality furniture, combining elegance and function.
As there were many RY series cabinets manufactured in the 1950s and 1960s, one with a tambour door top is absolutely unique, and preserved in such a good condition.
The bookcase features two separate parts. The lower part is a cabinet with six drawers. Three spacious ones at the bottom, two smaller ones on top, and one lockable on the top right side with the original key included.
The upper cabinet with tambour doors rests on a base without any mounting system. It features four shelves, including one with an arched cutout. Two middle ones are adjustable, providing the possibility to change the height or remove, if necessary.
Wood construction is in oak with teak details and solid wood circular drawer handles, crafted typically for Wegner’s design.
Our team checked the bookcase thoroughly. All interiors are clean, and the door and drawers work smoothly. We cleaned the wood with professional compounds and preserved it.
There is a small veneer inlet on the back bottom, but it is professionally made and almost not visible.
