This alabaster bowl shaped fixture is carved on the sides with stylised lions and underneath with stylized acanthus. The mounting bronze hooks are modelled as fierce birds-of-prey.
Much is made of the chain and canopy. The chain is heavy, finely cast and echos the acanthus motif of the bowl. The canopy itself is a considerable work and integral to the overall conception. It is shaped like an inverted tent and modelled in bas-relief, with a central knob-shaped finial. This fixture is entirely complete and original.
