Two spectacular Spode Centrepiece bowls. In the classic Italian pattern, featuring scenes of Italian ruins framed by a finely detailed Chinoiserie border, with gilded accents on the rim and base. Marked to the underside Copeland Spodes Italian England, R 3953.
The Blue Italian Collection was launched in 1816 and was inspired at the time by the blue & white ceramic tableware designs appearing in Europe from the Far East. With its shades & textures of cobalt blue on a white base, this design has become a classic.
These bowls have a wonderful large scale and fine gilt detailing, and look spectacular on any table. The hand painted mark of R3953 indicates pieces that were made between the years of 1956 and 1960.
1 set of two available. (Priced per set of two.)
