Vintage Design
This exceptional counter-buffet / sideboard was designed by Paolo Buffa and produced by Mario Quarti in Milan, Italy, in the 1940s. The sideboard stands on four grooved, turned twist legs in solid walnut with brass tips and upper brass ring details. Molded and edged top in veneered walnut wood. The six front drawers each with a carved bow detail, surrounded by a thin brass frame. Each drawer with a decorative handle in cast brass. The details, the materials and techniques used perfectly illustrate the high level of Mario Quarti’s craftsmanship as well as the originality and elegance of Paolo Buffa’s designs. This piece has been restored and is an overall good condition with some minor signs of wear consistent with age and use.
