Vintage Signed Kutani Japanese “Nemuri Neko” Sleeping Cat Hand Painted With Gold Gilt and Red Bow With Bells

Part of a long tradition, this Kutani “Nemuri Neko” cat has a simple mark that means Kutani. As such, it is difficult to date it, but expert opinion tells me it is no later than the 80s and could be a few decades older. It’s painted in a very traditional Kutani style with all the expected elements included.

7″ L x 5″ W x 3″ T

Condition:

Excellent vintage condition. Not much wear on the paint. The bottom shows wear and a little bit of discoloration from sitting. There is some old yellowed adhesive on the bottom from what looks like a very old sticker that has been recently removed, as well as pen markings. Please see all photos.
