Three detailed colored prints by Antonio Verico. Born in 1775, he was a master of chalcography, the art of engraving on copper plates. He worked in Rome and Florence, carving on drawings by various authors, with a technique close to that of Raffaello Morghen, who taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence.
The leaning tower, titled Veduta del Companile di Pisa in Toscana was done in 1816. The other images are the Cathedral and the San Giovanni Baptistery also at Pisa. Note the detail in the brightly colored figures and in the subtlety birds flying through the clouds.
The prints are handsomely framed under glass in rich walnut frames with three inch scored mats.
The two vertical prints are a bit different in measurement, one 31 inches wide by 25 inches tall, one 32.25 inches wide by 25 inches tall. For horizontal measurement see dimensions below.
There is a date of 1833 on two of the prints.
